Mackenna was celebrating her sixth birthday and was having a party with her friends.  Instead of accepting presents from everyone, her parents encouraged her to present a financial contribution to the Children’s Centre as a way of learning early, it’s a good thing assisting various charities.

Mackenna presented the cheque to Shawn and Jake here at the Centre, and was given a first hand demonstration on how Shawn communicates with the aid of his mechanical voice box.

The young girl was very impressed with what she saw at the Centre and her parting words were, "I’m going to do this again next year".  Many thanks Mackenna and many more happy birthdays.
