105.7 EZ Rock, 97.7 HTZ-FM & NewsTalk 610 CKTB hosted the Have a Heart Niagara Kids Radiothon, a part of Astral Media’s National Day of Caring with a live broadcast from the Sears Court, in the Pen Centre on Thursday April 30th, 2009, and it turned out to be an overwhelming success.  By days end, $221,000 in pledges poured in from listeners in Southern Ontario and New York State. To make things even better, cheques and pledges continued to be received for a few days after the events and the total should amount to over $225,000.

The Radiothon included on-air interviews with Children’s Centre officials, child patients and parents.

The Astral Media National Day of Caring for Kids Radiothon is held simultaneously in 28 cities and 50 radiot stations across Canada, in support of nearly 20 children’s hospitals and health care facilities.

Astral Media Radio Niagara’s General Manager, Madelyn Hamilton was extremely excited about this year’s event, "Radiothon is an annual event that all three stations look forward to, year after year.  In a time when the need has never been so great, we are ready to put together all of the strength of our 3 stations as a cluster.  Heading into our 6th year we are prepared to do all that we can with the help of a great community to shorten the list of kids waiting and getting them the support they so greatly need."
