Foundation Stories

CHILD’S PLAY
The preschoolers try to settle for circle time. But Niko’s making faces, Amber can’t stop giggling, Stephen needs the bathroom... now.

In this busy group, one child is autistic. Another struggles to balance with casts on her feet. Two have Down Syndrome. And they share the chance to be the best they can be.

The NIAGARA PENINSULA CHILDREN’S CENTRE focuses on allowing kids to do..kid things. Therapy is a big part of their day in the preschool program; kids are learning to walk and talk. They enjoy songs, stories and crafts. They swim and play and laugh.

By supporting the NPCC, you’re helping these kids to be the best they can be. And you’re helping them to just... be kids.

DAVID’S STORY
David is jealous because his sister gets extra attention. It’s not that unusual. But sometimes, even Mom and Dad are a little jealous. They all feel confused and frusterated. And frightened.

Raising a family can be tough. But families of children with physical or developmental challenges can feel overwhelmed.

At the NIAGARA PENINSULA CHILDREN’S CENTRE, family support and parents groups offer guidance about physcial and communicative disabilities. They show families how to be supportive, they help parents to be accepting, and they let siblings know that they’re not alone.

By supporting the NPCC, you can help families find the support they need, and focus on what really matters.

ANDREW’S STORY
Andrew’s a typical 12 year old. He teases his sister, hangs out at the mall, and shoots hoops. Pretty impressive considering he took his first steps just last year.

Andrew has Cerebral Palsy. He’s coming a long way, but still has milestones to reach. Like climbing the stairs at school.

At the NIAGARA PENINSULA CHILDRENS CENTRE, Andrew works with a team of therapists to realize his true potential. Uisn a combination of surgery, physiotherapy sessions, Botox injections and casts to stretch his tight muscles, Andrew can walk to class. With time, and your donation, he’ll climb stairs, and reach the top step.

By supporting the NPCC, you’ll help kids like Andrew be the best they can be.

CAITLYN’S STORY
When you’re 16, friends are everything. Caitlyn and her friends would talk all night on the phone, spend all day crusing on her bicycle. But a bike accident left Caitlyn with a brain injury. Today, Caitlyn has many needs, but there’s just one thing she wants. Caitlyn wants her friends back.

At the NIAGARA PENINSULA CHILDRENS CENTRE, Caitlyn’s therapists are highly trained in assisting with the physical and communicative challenges faced by kids with acquired injuries. Your donation can help Caitlyn regain control of her muscles and her ability to speak.

By supporting thr NPCC, you can help Caitlyn be the best she can be. You can help her get her life back.
